NOTE:
If you go to this web site,
you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving in Iraq .
You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go to some member of the armed services.

How AMAZING it would
be if we could get everyone we know to send one!!!

Please send a card.   It is FREE and it only takes a second.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the soldiers received a bunch of these?

Whether you are for or against the war, our guys and gals over there need to know we are behind them...

NOTE:
Greetings,  I'm collecting  old/broken or just un useable cell phones for a program that recycles them and uses the money to buy phone cards for our boys overseas. This will help them contact their families.  If you have any please contact me or just send them to my P.O. Box.

It’s that time again!
The NYPD, in conjunction with the American Legion Post 1600, is proud to hold it’s annual Motorcycle Run/Picnic on September 28, 2008 benefiting the Disabled American Veterans (DAV). We invite you to participate this year and help us achieve our goals.

DAV offers a wide variety of programs and initiatives to serve those who served. Assistance is provided in various ways; helping veterans obtain earned benefits, transportation to/from hospitals, relief from disasters, and educating the public about disabled veterans’ issues.

Last year’s event was a tremendous success due to the generosity of all our sponsors and all who participated. With Corporate and community support we were able to raise over $10,000.00 for the purpose of enhancing and furthering the work of the DAV

Please consider becoming a participant, donor, vendor and/ or sponsor forThe 2nd Annual NYPD Motorcycle Run for DAVand together we can make a difference!

On behalf of the DAV I would like to thank you in advance for your support and we look forward to seeing you at the Run.

The 2008 Veteran's Day Parade will be re-routed west across 42nd Street and north on 12th Avenue to pay homage to the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Intrepid, which will return to its refurbished berth at Pier 86 on Sept. 26, 2008 -- the birthdate of the late Zachary Fisher, who founded the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.

Museum officials announced the plans to more than 100 government and corporate leaders Thursday at a gathering in Brooklyn. The museum's grand re-opening celebration will officially take place on Nov. 11, 2008 -- Veteran's Day.

Museum president Bill White said the celebration will "afford us the opportunity to give Intrepid the glorious return she so deserves."

Commissioned in August, 1943, the Intrepid became one of the most famous ships in the U.S. Navy, serving in a variety of roles until she was finally decommissioned in 1974.

Torpedoed by the Japanese in World War II, struck on multiple occasions by kamikazes, the Intrepid was a key player in the Pacific Fleet, fighting in battles in the Kwajalein Atoll, the Marshall Islands, Truk, the Battle of Leyte Gulf and Okinawa. She later served as the primary recovery ship for NASA and the Mercury Astronauts and even served in the South China Sea during the Vietnam War.

Rescued by Fisher to establish the museum in 1982, the Intrepid was moved from its Manhattan berth late last year for refurbishment, including an $8 million interior renovation. The Intrepid is undergoing refurbishment in Staten Island.

On Thursday, officials announced the carrier will begin its trek back to Pier 86 at 8 a.m. on Sept. 26, 2008 and should return to the pier at 1:30 p.m.

It is expected that 5,000 veterans will take place in the museum's grand re-opening celebration on Nov. 11, 2008.

"We are thrilled that we are nearing the return of the Intrepid to its New York City home," New York City Council speaker Christine Quinn said Thursday. "The Intrepid is a living monument to our nation's courage and our resolve to stand for freedom, whatever the cost."

IF YOU DON’T STAND BEHIND OUR TROOPS,
PLEASE FEEL FREE TO STAND IN FRONT OF THEM.

At precisely 11:00am, the Wreathe Laying Ceremony takes place in front of the monument by various organizations.

Opening Ceremony: Intrepid Sea-Air & Space Museum

A ceremony will take place aboard Intrepid, attended by veterans, and military. Once this ceremony concludes, a contingency of guests would proceed from the Intrepid to join in the Veterans Day Parade along 5th Avenue.

 The Parade – :

Immediately following the Eternal Light Monument Ceremony, the parade officially starts, with elected officials, dignitaries and the Grand Marshals taking the lead. An exact Line of March is prepared well beforehand, with all participants gathered at their designated and reserved streets awaiting their Parade Marshals notice to begin marching up 5th Avenue. Starting off at 23rd Street and 5th Avenue and going up to 57th Street and  5th Avenue, the marching contingents, military vehicles, floats, bands, etc requires approximately 3 - 4 hours of time. The Reviewing Stand is in front of the New York City Public Library –40th Street and 5th Avenue, where there will be bleacher seating for those veterans who wish to view the parade.

Hospitality Street (56th Street between 5th and 6th Ave) –

Annually, these or other streets (as assigned by NYPD) are closed, whereby participants can partake of the various booths along the street.
